Equipment Introduction

In order not to affect the operation, when a work area does not allow any supporting structure, the modular beam Suspension Crane is a perfect choice. This Crane system requires a roof structure that can withstand sufficient strength and safely support the crane load. Customers can install multiple main beams on a set of fixed rails, which greatly improves production efficiency. This type of product is a steel structure with a lifting capacity of 75-2000kg and a total main beam length of up to 10m.

Compared to traditional beam cranes, the design of the closed rail uses only one-third of the force used for handling. The design of the truss rail allows for a larger span and more flexibility in installation layout.

Term analysis

Axial load: The total vertical force acting on the supporting structure. Calculation formula: Axial load = (Total weight of crane) + (Design factor x weight of load lifted).

Girder length: Total length of girder. Note: The working length of the girder or the coverage of the hook on the beam is less than the total length of the girder.

Buffer: A spacer placed between two girders (or) hoist trolleys in the fixed rail to prevent concentrated overloads between the hanger points. It limits the minimum distance between girders or hoists.

Column: The column of a modular self-supporting crane is the "leg" of the Modular Crane and is made of square tubes. The crane stands on these "legs".

Deflection: The difference in rail deflection between an unloaded crane and a fully loaded crane is usually calculated in millimeters. Generally, Gorbo designs beam cranes to be L/450, where L = support center distance or span.

Crossbeam: This is a horizontal beam in the support structure of a modular self-supporting crane, consisting of two back-to-back channels, where the fixed rail is hung.

Overall Height (OAH): The distance from the ground to the highest point of the crane (including metalwork).

Span (girder): The distance between the center lines of the fixed rails. The span must be distinguished from the overall length of the girder (OAL), which is longer than the span. Calculation formula (used for most cranes): Span = {girder length - (2 x girder cantilever length)}

Center of support: This is the distance between the center lines of the two columns or hangers along the fixed rails. Note that the center of support determines what type of rails need to be used.

Support Structure: For a modular self-erecting crane, the support structure refers to the support assembly, also called the "gate" or "terminal frame", which consists of the columns and beams. For a modular suspension crane system, the support structure is the roof, including trusses, longitudinal beams, columns, etc., from which the crane is suspended.

Hoist Trolley Height (TS): On a self-erecting crane, this is the height from the top of the hoist trolley pin (under which the hoist is suspended) to the ground.
